Eight Trigrams to cognize the world
Eight Trigrams To Cognize The World is a tool that makes it easy to learn the shapes and meanings of the Bagua.
What is the Bagua?
The Bagua is a system consisted of eight trigrams, created by Fuxi in ancient China. It represents the principle of change in all things and depicts all phenomena in the natural and human worlds. According to the I Ching, these eight trigrams are formed by stacking three lines, either broken (- -) or unbroken (---), to represent the basic elements of the natural world.
What is this website for?
When I was looking for resources on ancient asian culture for my research, I realized that there wasn't as much data available on the internet as I thought. The same was true for the Bagua. I felt it counter-intuitive that even the most basic meaning of the Bagua’s eight trigrams, which I(as a Korean) often encounter in daily lives, was so hard to learn. So I wanted to create a tool that would allow people to easily learn the form and meaning of the Bagua’s eight trigrams.
